5 Reasons Why Brisbane is a Student’s City

Brisbane city may often be forgotten when it comes to talk of student-friendly cities. Sure, Sydney and Melbourne are quite popular for young adults, but I think Brisbane is quite the student’s paradise, and here’s five reasons why!

1. You don’t have to sacrifice half your weekly wage to live

Student accommodation is around every corner in Brisbane’s inner city, and you won’t need to worry about sacrificing half your weekly income, your soul, and a kidney to live here! If city living isn’t for you, the Greater Brisbane region offers an array of accommodation.

2. Public transport is everywhere

Brisbane’s easily accessible public transport links stretch from the northside to the southside, reaching to the westside and extending all along the east coast! You’ll be spoiled for choice when deciding what mode of transportation to take as Translink’s network includes train services, tram services, ferry rides, buses, and public bicycles.

3. Spoilt for choice when choosing a university!

Whether you’re an international student looking to expand your global presence by studying in Brisbane, or whether you’re a permanent resident deciding on a career path, there is an extensive amount of study opportunities throughout Brisbane and Greater Brisbane.

4. Varying social scenes

Depending on your personality, there is always somewhere in Brisbane where you can florish. If you love relaxation then South Bank’s beaches and night markets are the place for you! If you’re more about retail therapy then Queen Street Mall’s array of stores is the place for you! If you’d rather spend a day out on the water or hiking through national parks, Brisbane’s outer suburbs are ideal. Which brings us to the final reason why I think Brisbane is the student’s city…

5. Proximity to the Wilderness

Want to head north? Jump in your car or catch the train an hour up to the Sunshine Coast! Take a trip to the top of the Maleny range and throw down a coffee overlooking the forest. More of a Southerner? Visit Surfers Paradise or make it a day at one of the many theme parks. Brisbane’s west is where the country-folk come alive! Explore Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers, or take a week’s road trip out to Charleville. Whether you’re a sun-soaker, a road-tripper, an art-lover, or a water-rat, Brisbane’s close proximity to every type of environment will appeal to everyone!
